Forward Committment Procurement Market Engagement  - Opportunities for Innovative Approaches

20 May 2010

.

Following on from successful market sounding, a market consultation workshop, facilitated by the Environmental Sustainability KTN, was held on 18 May 2010 at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The event was opened by Peter Jones OBE and Lorraine Holme (Department of Health).  The event was well attended and brought together a cross section of potential providers of waste management technologies and services and other public sector bodies to work consultatively with the Trust in designing a Forward Commitment Procurement (FCP) strategy and specification to encourage innovation and enable the Trust to progress it's objectives of zero waste to landfill, low carbon emissions, waste minimization, resource efficiency, and material and energy recovery.

A workshop feedback report is being prepared and, following consultation with the participants, will be available on this website.

Background

In February this year, the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust launched a 'Market Sounding' regarding the supply of an innovative Zero Waste SolutionThe Trust was delighted with the response from the supply chain. Over 40 expressions of interest have been registered and over 25 considered response forms submitted. A company directory listing those that submitted a response form has been prepared (see PDF link below) to facilitate communication within the supply chain. (Note that some companies declined to be included). Directory_.pdf

Although the formal phase of the market sounding has now closed but you can still register your interest at: www.supplying2nhs.com

You will need to register as a supplier, search for 'zero waste' and then register your interest against the project.

You will then automatically be alterted when further documents and tenders are issued.
