Innovation for a low carbon economy
CO2Sense Yorkshire is supporting organisations on Forward Commitment Procurement as part of its drive to help organisations in Yorkshire and Humber to profit from resource efficiencies and to help the region make the shift to a low carbon economy.
Forward Commitment Procurement (FCP) is designed to create the conditions necessary to bring to market the innovative goods and services the public sector needs to deliver sustainability targets.

Buying into the Future FCP Programme objective

“To create the capacity and capability in the use of the Forward Commitment Procurement model in Public Sector bodies and public funded projects thereby enabling the role of Government as a lead market for environmental goods and services, and providing the missing market pull to stimulate investment in the development and commercial supply of innovative environmental solutions”

Who can apply?
FCP is a tool that was originally designed for the public sector to address market failures in the delivery of the ‘social good’, but it can also be adapted for use by public interest organisations and the private sector where they are involved in public funded projects.
